 Georgia YAC - YAK
News from Georgia's Young Agents Committee -  Winter 2011

From the YAC Chairman

I hope you all have had a wonderful and successful 2011 and even better 2012.  It has been a pleasure and honor to serve you as chairman, building upon the past and solidifying the future of Young Agents as our first Chairman, Jim Grimes, did in 1968.

Thank you to all of our Young Agent leadership, the YAC Directors, who have been hard at work since June planning our education event of the year – the YAC Sales & Leadership Conference “Changing the Game”; reaching out to our company representatives to partner with IIAG in 2012; and building awareness and support for the battle against pediatric cancer with raffle ticket sales and the YAC Charity Golf Tournament in March. www.yaccharitygolf.com .

If you have never been to the National Legislative Conference and Convention in Washington D.C. held each year in April, I encourage you to sign up today.  It is one of our most important events and gives us the opportunity to discuss our cares and concerns about our industry with our Congressmen.  The National Young Agents Committee is sponsoring two $500 scholarships to Young Agents in Georgia who have never attended.  Our own Young Agents Committee also offers scholarships to first time attendees.  Contact Joe Foote jfoote@iiag.org for details and read more about the conference in this YAC-YAK.  Learn more.

Finally, mark your calendars for Weather the Storm June 7-9 – the 44th YAC Annual Conference to be held at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation and Resort in Florida.  Besides the amazing opportunity to earn 9 hours of CE while enjoying time on the beach with family, friends, fellow Young Agents and partners,  you’ll hear from premier business insurance consultant John Fear, CISR; Hurricane Katrina survivor, Dave Truetel; Conrad Lautenbacher, Jr., Ph.D, Vice Admiral U.S. Navy retired, former Under Secretary of Commerce and Administrator of the National Atmospheric and Oceanic Administration (NOAA); IIABA President and IIABA CEO Bob Rusbuldt, and our own Georgia Commissioner Ralph Hudgens.

We will even have some celebrities joining us – Sue Monk Kidd, author of The Secret Lives of Bees and Jason Hewlett the incredible entertainer and impersonator.  You have to see his YouTube Video!

We’ve had an incredible 2011 and expect even more for Young Agents in 2012.  Please feel free to contact me or any of your YAC Directors for assistance, guidance or help in your endeavors in 2012.

Respectfully,
Ash Smith, YAC Chairman
