InVEST InVEST Awards 42 Student Scholarships InVEST, the insurance industry’s premier school-to-work program, has awarded $43,000 in scholarships to 42 college-bound students pursuing insurance-related degrees. Each year, InVEST develops a diverse pool of industry professionals by educating high school and community college students about insurance, risk management and financial services. Earlier this year, 150 scholarship hopefuls across the country submitted essays describing the influence and benefits InVEST had on their educational plans. The quality of the essay, combined with the applicant’s grade-point average, extracurricular activities and college entrance exam scores, were factors in selecting the recipients.
The scholarships are funded through proceeds generated by the InVEST Silent Auction held each year in conjunction with the Big “I” Legislative Conference & Convention. The recent auction raised $31,000, with attendees bidding on trips, jewelry, gadgets, sporting events and more. Items were donated by insurance carriers, agents and brokers, the Big “I” and its state affiliates and other industry organizations. E&O Fireman’s Fund Audit Provision Letters Agencies that have bound coverage through the Big “I” FFIC Insurance Agents E&O program continue to receive a letter from FFIC indicating their E&O policy is auditable. Please be advised that these letters are invalid as there is no audit provision on the FFIC Agents E&O policy. This error is due to a glitch in FFIC’s policy issuance system, which it is working diligently to correct. The Big “I” wants to make agents aware of this on going issue so they can alert their clients of this letter before they receive it. Until this error can be corrected, the Big “I” will be including this letter with all bound policies. The letter informs the insured that the audit provision letter they will receive in the mail is an error and that the policies are not auditable. We also recommend discussing this issue with your client once you deliver the policy, to further clarify the situation prior to receipt of the audit letter. Once the correction has been made in FFIC’s policy issuance system, we will alert you and attached letter will no longer be sent in conjunction with the policy form.
