In the ever-changing world of insurance, you must answer tough questions and make hard choices every day. As a professional, you need a proven and reliable source of information and data to be certain that your customers and clients have access to someone they can trust and count on to insure their lives and businesses.
CIC is that resource. Understanding the problems, issues, and concerns that affect your daily life as it relates to your business is the underlying principle on which every institute within the CIC Program has been created. When you select CIC as your educational resource, you will share the collective knowledge and experience of proven professionals. When you attend a CIC institute, you can take comfort in the fact that what you learn is what you need to know – CIC institutes are a combination of "real-time" information tested and proved in the "real-world" of the marketplace.
A Distinguished Faculty
The CIC faculty is comprised of a select group of insurance academic and business professionals who have proven themselves in their chosen fields. They are known and recognized for their personal achievements, business acumen, and educational excellence. But most importantly, all have a working knowledge of the insurance business from both a practical and a professional perspective.
Every CIC institute benefits by the presence of an Educational Consultant. This individual is responsible for the academic content of the institute. He or she helps construct the voluntary examination and supervises its administration.
The Path to Excellence and Achievement
CIC institutes lay a foundation for a lifetime of learning by offering institutes covering all major areas of insurance for personal and commercial lines insurance professionals.
To register for and attend CIC Institutes you must meet one or more of these basic requirements: be a licensed agent, broker or solicitor, or have at least two years of full-time experience in the field of insurance, or have served at least two years as a full-time faculty member at an accredited college or university.
All participants must present photo identification to the registrar at the program site.
Continuing Education Credit

You must be on time and present for the entire 2 ½ days of programming. Caution: CE credit will not be given for the same course number if repeated during a four-year compliance period.
When you have completed all of the five institutes and passed the examination associated with each institute, you have earned the Certified Insurance Counselor designation. You are allowed five years to pass all five examinations. CIC is a professional designation that is both a symbol of pride and a statement of your commitment to education. CICs attend at least one approved program per year to maintain their designation.
