About the CIC
KAIA is the leading provider of agent continuing education in Kansas, managing both the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation programs of the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research.
The Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) Program is a prestigious designation and the most practical continuing education. The curriculum is tailored to your particular region and it meets most states’ annual CE requirements. More than 300 institutes are held nationally each year. Each CIC receives national recognition within the industry for the program, designation, your knowledge and professionalism.
The CIC Program is primarily an excellent continuing education opportunity; anyone may attend classes without taking the examinations or working toward the designation. There is no set order for taking the institutes.

Eligibility
Due to the advanced content of CIC institutes, participants must have a good grasp of the subject matter before attending. Participants are not required to belong to an insurance association.
To attend CIC institutes and be eligible to obtain the CIC designation, an individual must:

Be a licensed agent, broker, adjuster, or solicitor; or

Have at least two years of full-time experience in insurance or as a risk management practitioner; or
-
Have served as a full-time insurance faculty member at an accredited college or university.

Requirements
To Earn the CIC:

Attend all five institutes.

Pass all five of the examinations. You may repeat any institute if you fail the examination. However, you must pass all five CIC exams within five calendar years after you complete your first CIC exam OR pass any four CIC exams PLUS any one of the five CRM exams within five calendar years after you complete your first CIC or CRM exam.

The entire series of CIC examinations must be successfully completed within five calendar years after passing the first examination.
To Retain the CIC:
You must attend at least one of the following programs annually:

Any one of the five CIC institutes

A James K. Ruble Seminar*

A Dynamics of Selling program*
-
A Dynamics of Sales Management program*
-
A Certified Risk Manager course*
* You must be a dues-paid member of the Society of CIC or Certified Risk Managers International to attend a Ruble Seminar, and to receive update credit from a Ruble seminar, Dynamics of Selling program, Dynamics of Sales Management program, or CRM course.
