Cities

The KMU Safety Group Insurance Program is available for all cities under 17,500 in population.  The program requires that all participants have a common anniversary date of April 1st, however, initial participation can begin on any date.

Since this is a “Safety Group Insurance Program,” the potential for a dividend exists.  The premium and losses for all cities written in the program are combined for the purpose of calculating dividends.  If the loss experience for the group generates a dividend, each member participates, even though the losses of an individual member may be higher than other members of the group.

Counties

The Kansas County Safety Dividend Group Insurance Program is available to all counties in Kansas subject to company underwriting.  It was developed by EMC and KAIA and is competitive with the County Associations two pools: KCAMP and KWORCC.  Unlike the KMU program, there is no common anniversary date.  This program has the potential for a dividend for all coverages – including Workers’ Compensation – with the exception of the Umbrella and Linebacker coverages.  The program for counties offers all the same coverages as the KMU program: Public Officials E&O, Law Enforcement Professional, and an Umbrella that provides coverage where the Kansas Tort Claims Act does not.

Townships

EMC offers a competitive program for townships.  Any township in Kansas is eligible, subject to company underwriting.  This program is not a safety group program; therefore it does not offer the potential of dividends.  However, it offers the same comprehensive coverage that is available to cities and counties at a competitive price.

Fire Departments

With EMC’s expertise in public entity insurance, it was only natural that they develop a fire department program to compliment their already successful public entity programs.  If you have an account you would like to submit, complete an ACORD application and submit to ASCK.

Kansas Schools and Community Colleges

This is a safety dividend program specifically designed for Kansas Schools and Community Colleges.  The program provides specially designed, broad insurance coverage for schools and community colleges.  Some highlights of the program are: Athlete Liability, Nurses Medical Malpractice, Corporal Punishment Liability, School Official E&O, an Umbrella that “wraps around” the Kansas Tort Claims Act and Workers’ Compensation coverage. Learn More

The Kansas Association of Insurance Agents would like to announce that through Agency Services Corporation of Kansas (ASCK) members can access The Medical Protective Company for its medical malpractice and dental professional liability programs. The Medical Protective Company has an A.M. Best rating of A++, with a history of successfully specializing in this extremely difficult line of insurance.

NOTE: Medical Protective is moving away from using paper applications.  In Kansas, the company prefers that the applicant complete the online application, but does not require it at this time.  In Missouri, the only option available is online applications – paper applications are no longer accepted.  By completing the “Start & Send Form” and sending it to ASCK, the applicant will then have access to the website and can then complete an online application. The online application allows for a much faster response on both quotes and declinations.  Applicants MUST have an e-mail address to complete an online application.

In-Home Business

The In-Home Business Policy (IBP) provides certain coverages for your clients who operate small businesses out of their homes.  The traditional marketplace typically does not offer a product to fit this need.  A commercial lines policy could be inappropriate and is often too costly for small business ventures.  Many standard homeowners policies exclude any liability arising from a business in the home.
