State Legislative Affairs

IIAM works diligently to protect independent agents as wellas insurance consumers before the Mississippi Legislature.Through IIAM-PAC, our state political action committee, members can contribute to and suppor exectuive, legislative and judicial candidates who are supportive of business issues.

 

National Legislative Affairs

Consistently ranked as one of the most effective lobbying organizations, the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America plays a vita role in protecting independent agents on Capital Hill.  IIAM members attend the annual National Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C where members attend briefings, meet key congressional leaders and visit with the Mississippi delegaion to the U.S.Senate and House of Representatives. Another strong factor in IIABA’s success with national legislative affairs isthrough InsurPac, IIABA’s federal political action committee.

 

Regulatory

IIAM communicates with the Insurance Commissioner and other Department of Insurance leaders regularly. IIAM members serve as association representatives on industryboards and committees.

Agents License Review

People from across the state look to IIAM as a source for pre-licensing educaiton.  This three-day course  provides students with valuable instruction from seasoned insurance professionals.

 

Continuing Education Courses

IIAM sponsors numerous seminars throughout the year at various locations featuring qualified, professional instructors. IIAM members pay a discounted fee for these courses.

Customer service representatives can earn a professional designation through this nationally recognized Accredited Customer Service Representative (ACSR) program.

Hundreds of people have accessed information through IIAM’s website, www.msagent.org. Information available includes industry news, IIAM information, education schedules, technical information and industry links. A new feature of www.msagent.org is that registration for IIAM events is now available online.

 

Virtual University

IIABA’s Virtual University, http://www.iiaba.net/vu/default.htm, provides a myriad of practical, valuable, current, and accurate

insurance industry information. Agents can access hundreds of insurance articles, a Research Library and the

“Ask an Expert” service. Also, agents can subscribe to the Virtual University’s free email newsletter, The VUPoint, to receive the latest VU articles on a bi-weekly basis.

 

Agents Council for Technology, ACT

The Agents Council for Technology, ACT, is a partnership of independent agents, companies, technology vendors, user groups and associations dedicated to enhancing the use of technology and improved work flows within the Independent Agency System.

Errors & Omissions Coverage

E&O coverage written through IIABA’s Professional Liability Program is available to eligible IIAM member agencies. Underwritten by Westport Insurance, this program has grown into the largest and most stable insurance agents E&O program in the nation. Specifically tailored for insurance agents, coverage benefits of this program include very competitive rates, a comprehensive coverage form and limits up to $15 million. IAMET

The IAMET program through MetLife offers member agents access to competitive auto, home, landlord, boat and personal excess liability policies. IAMET provides agents the opportunity to participate in profit sharing without having to meet minimum premium requirements that an individual contract would mandate. Flood Insurance Program

IIAM recently announced a new endorsement through the Big "I" flood Program with Selective Insurance.  Selective has an innovative, state of the art processing system approved by NFIP to make the policy issuance process quick and seamless.  Selective offers online processing and inquirty, free flood determinations and access to excess flood coverage.  Agents can choose to participate in one of two ways: 1) working with Selective's Flood Service Center where Selective provides hands-on guidance for members who are not familiar with writing flood insurance or 2) working as a sub-producer for the program but obtaining a direct contract with Selective which grants agents access to Selective's Flood-On-Line internet-based, flood processing system.  For additional informaiton, contact Kimberly Wilkerson at 850-926-7032 or by email at kimberly.wilkerson@selective.com.

 

Long Term Care Insurance

IIAM recently announced its endorsement for Long Term Care Insurance through Underwriters Group Inc. (UGI) . UGI has partnered with SeniorCareUSA, a Charleston, South Carolina company specializing in Long Term Care, to market and write this coverage in Mississippi. They have a unique marketing approach and represent the largest and strongest Long Term Care Providers (GE, John Hancock, MedAmerica, MetLife, Prudential and others). RLI Personal Umbrella Policy

RLI’s Personal Umbrella Policy (PUP) stands atop your clients’ exisiting homeowner and auto insurance to provide an extra level of personal liability protection. RLI In-Home Business Policy

The RLI In-Home Business Policy is a stand-alone policy developed for the millions of people who operate business from their homes.
