The Darrel Bjornson Memorial MIEF Industry Golf Tournament
The first annual MIEF Golf Tournament was held in June of 1998 at The Old Works golf course in Anaconda. Proceeds of the tournament go direct to MIEF. It is an opportunity for members of the insurance industry to come together, possibly inviting a friend, client or colleague to participate.
In 1999 the Management Team voted to change the name of the golf tournament to "The Darrell Bjornson Memorial MIEF Industry Golf Tournament." This recognition is a tribute to Darrell’s long time commitment and support of MIEF.
The tournament is held annually in the fall.

MIEF Intern Program
Any agency that is interested in sponsoring a college student in their agency for the summer may select a student and apply for the intern program.
How To Apply
There are no formal applications to complete, but the agency should review the criteria listed below and submit a letter requesting the program. The request should include a brief job description of the proposed intern, school information and the intern’s interest in the insurance business. Please read the internship guidlines and the criteria for selection of the prospective intern.
Internship Guidelines:
-
Applications for the Intern Program are to be directed to the IIAM/MIEF office.

To be eligible, the participating agency must agree to employ and supervise the intern for a 12 to 13 week period.
-
The sponsoring Agency must offer, as much as possible, a comprehensive exposure to the local/state agency business.
-
The participating agency agrees to at least match the $2,000.00 advance made by the MIEF as compensation to the intern during the term of employment.

In order to perpetuate the Intern Program, if the agency permanently employs the intern for 12 consecutive months or more following the end of the internship, they agree to reimburse MIEF 50% of the advance. Payments will be as follows:
-
$250 of the advance by January 1st, following the first year of employment
-
$250 every January 1st thereafter, until 50% of the advance is repaid
-
If the intern doesn’t return to an agency for employment, the agency agrees to reimburse MIEF 100% of the advance. Payments will be as follows: $1,000 by January 1st, following two years from the internship
Criteria for the Selection of a Prospective Intern

A family member or relative of the sponsoring agency, shall be eligible to apply for an internship.
The MIEF will periodically monitor the progress of the intern with the sponsoring agency. No agency may have more than one intern at any one time.
