Continuing Education Requirements
IMPORTANT NOTE: Effective July 16, 2012, proof of completion of all courses approved by the Nebraska Department of Insurance for CE and Pre-Licensing credit, will be provided online by course providers (incuding IIAN), and students will be required to submit a fee of $1 per credit hour when registering for the course. For approved courses completed prior to July 16, 2012, licensees should submit all paper Certificates to the Department of Insurance AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (NOT AT LICENSE RENEWAL TIME), along with a note explaining that the Certificates were earned prior to July 16, 2012, including licensee's name and NPN number. LICENSEES SHOULD BE SURE TO KEEP COPIES FOR THEIR FILES. Certificates may be mailed to: 941 - O Street, Suite 400, Lincoln, NE 68508, or scanned and e-mailed to: doi.conted@nebraska.gov.
Replacement paper CE certificates will be issued by IIAN for a $15 fee. Order replacement paper CE certificates by clicking here. On or after July 16, 2012, licensees should check online two weeks after completing an approved course to make sure the course provider has uploaded completion credit - go to www.statebasedsystems.com and click on Nebraska under "State Services" to access links.

• No licensee is required to complete more than 24 cumulative hours in any two-year period (including at least 3 hours of ethics).
• Licensees must complete courses specifically approved for the line in which licensed, unless the course is designated “General” or “Ethics-General”. Producers licensed in both Property & Casualty and Combined Life & Health may complete courses approved for either type. Assessment Assn. and Miscellaneous Lines licensees may complete courses approved for Property & Casualty provided the course relates directly to the licensed line.
• A licensee may not repeat an approved course within a two-year period.
• Upon completing an approved education course, licensees will be issued a Certificate of Completion by the course sponsor. It is the licensee’s responsibility to file completion certificates with the Nebraska Department of Insurance. Certificates of Completion should be pre-filled with the agents name, address and license number. The Department of Insurance may refuse a Certificate of Completion for "handwritten" information.
