Technical Affairs - ISO, NCCI, AIA

The Big "I" provides members with a unified voice in advocating for policies and rules that best serve the insurance-buying public.  IIAN representatives actively participate in the Mid-America Technical Conference, one of three annual regional conferences to provide input to ISO, NCCI, and AAIS regarding form and rate improvements.  The Mid-America Conference results in twelve to fifteen policy improvements each year.  At the national level, IIABA staff and leaders work with all of the rating and advisory organizations on these critical issues.

The Companies

Each year, Big "I" leaders on the state and national levels meet with top managers of independent agency system companies to discuss issues important to members and the association, such as:

• Agency contract provisions
• Agency perpetuation/young agents
• Market plans
• Technology
• Legislation and regulation

We recommend company changes that foster more positive agent-company relationships.  Opening the channels of communication has resulted in increased support for Big "I" programs and reinforces the value agents bring to the insurance transaction.
