Industry Relations

NIIA and the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America has been a powerful advocate for the Independent Agency System.

The 24,000 member agencies of IIABA realize the value of one voice. But our voice and distribution channel are stronger when our company partners collaborate with us.

Our Partnerships Include:

Trusted Choice is the innovative new marketing brand developed exclusively for members of IIAA to help consumers understand and value independent insurance agents. Based on extensive consumer and industry research, Trusted ChoiceSM is designed to highlight the strengths of independent agents: choice, customization and advocacy. Trusted ChoiceSM agencies and supporting companies will benefit from a marketing strategy that includes a consumer-tested logo, national advertising and public relations, local agency marketing support, and a cutting-edge agency locator that will drive consumers to the Trusted ChoiceSM agency that best suits their needs.

Agents Council for Technology is a partnership of IIAA, companies, agents and technology providers to promote and facilitate effective use of technology to advance the competitive position of the Independent Agency System. The Council has created "technology blueprints" that increase understanding among agents, companies and strategic technology partners regarding current, and developing technology issues. ACT also is an open forum to devise practical strategies that address real issues in a meaningful way. ACT is committed to generating agent-oriented business tools that focus on the core needs that agents have to move forward with technology.

Future One is a cooperative effort of IIAA and more than 25 leading insurers to offer a coordinated message to consumers and regulators while providing a forum for agents and companies to address key industry concerns. Future One’s two areas of focus are state government affairs and research, and the group has established a solid record of accomplishment in both.

Future One Research Future One is well regarded for its investigation of trends affecting the Independent Agency System and the decisions of consumers. The Agency Universe Study, conducted every two years, is considered the foremost authority on the Independent Agency System and agency business issues. Other studies cover technology and market share issues. Future One produces studies on technology, personal lines, and commercial lines, touching both agency and consumer issues. Research is designed and presented specifically for companies to maximize the end result.

Future One: State Government Affairs By working closely together, agents and companies can secure more industry-friendly legislation and regulation in the states. Companies that join Future One – even if they are regional or highly specialized – benefit from the nationwide pool of talent and experience that will rally around problems that arise in particular states.

Future One’s State Grants Program supports regulatory reform in areas such as auto insurance, privacy, coastal market dislocation, workers compensation and tort reform. Another of Future One’s accomplishments is the Insurance Campaign Institute, which allows agents and company personnel to participate in an intense overview of how to run a campaign from a local level, such as school board campaign, to a full-blown political campaign. Important components of campaigning, such as fundraising and public speaking, are taught by some of the political world’s best. The goal is to have more insurance industry representation in local, state, and national office.
