Underwater License Plates 
If you have a client who cannot turn in their license plates due to the fact that their vehicle is still underwater, they should complete the following forms for each set of plates and turn them into the DMV:

  • MV-1441.3 - the Certification of lost license, permit or plates (write "Hurricane Sandy" in the explanation section)
  • MV-44DR-F - the NYS Resident Disaster Victims Relief Supplemental Information and Attestation

NYS Department of Financial Services New York State Department of Financial Services Establishing an Insurance Emergency Operations Center (IEOC) in Albany that will field calls from consumers and provide assistance in contacting the proper insurer. The IEOC will also assess the extent of losses. Disaster Liaisons will be appointed by each company to serve at the IEOC on a daily basis (business day, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.) beginning Nov. 1. 
 
   

President Declares Major Disaster for New York

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency announced that federal disaster aid has been made available to the State of New York and ordered federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area affected by Hurricane Sandy beginning on October 27, 2012, and continuing.

The President's action makes federal funding available to affected individuals in Bronx, Kings, Nassau, New York, Richmond, Suffolk, and Queens counties.
