NEW AGENT LICENSING RULES 

Ohio Department of Insurance Director Mary Jo Hudson has announced that the Department has adopted rule 3901-5-08 regarding the renewal of insurance agent licenses. The new rule establishes the conversion schedule for changing insurance agent licensing from a perpetual license structure to a biennial license structure.  It also changes limited line license renewal periods, provides the methodology for establishing renewal periods for newly licensed agents and transitions the continuing education (CE) requirements to coincide with the renewal periods.   The rule brings Ohio in line with the National Association of Insurance Commissioner (NAIC) uniformity requirements.  More information on the new rule, including conversion charts for agents, can be found HERE . BIG 'I' DEBUTS NEW LOGO

The Big 'I' is excited to announce a new era in branding for Independent Insurance Agents.  The national board overwhelmingly approved a new logo, the first change in more than two decades.  The new logo incorporates the eagle swoosh that is recognizable to consumers as it has been used in the Trusted Choice logo for a number of years.  As independent agents now have to compete with the Gecko's and Flo's of the insurance world, it was time for agents to have a consistent brand that was noticeable to both consumers and for our association activities.  MORE INFO

The Ohio Department of Development's Insurance Industry Advisory Board has released their "Strategic Growth Plan for Ohio's Insurance Industry" report today.  Scott Nein, CEO, Ohio Big 'I', serves as Vice Chairman of the board.   The mission of the Strategic Plan is to enhance the business climate for Ohio's insurance industry and to develop innovative ways to retain and create insurance industry jobs for Ohioans.
