2012 National Legislative Conference

 April 26, 2012, five of us from Oregon represented the IIABO at the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America’s Annual Legislative Conference in Washington D.C.  This is the largest and most impressive event conducted by an agent association.  This year over 1,200 agents participated.
 
The goal of the Legislative Conference is to demonstrate, through numbers of attendees, the extensive grassroots strength of the Big “I “.  We visited the offices of each of our representatives in the House and both Senators.  Among other things we discussed with them the importance of state regulation, the role of the agent in the distribution of health insurance, the need for modernization and a permanent fix for the Federal Flood program and much more.
 
Attending this year were Gary Githens, Tom BeLusko, Brian Wilbur, John Timm and Jim Perucca. Gary Hubbard (Marketing VP Liberty Northwest) accompanied us on our visits.
