What is the CVV Code?
Click on the link of the course/ event you want to register for. Education links will be in Education Calendar. Event links will be on the individual event page. A new window will appear that has the name, date and location of your course/event. Verify that is the course/event you want and read all the course/event details. |
Members, login. In later steps you will get member rates, and the name, designation, agency name and address fields will automatically be filled. Only members receive a IIABSC web site username and password, but you may need to request it. You can tell that you are logged in because "Welcome [FirstName]" will appear in the member-login area. |
Click "Register." If you are not logged in you will receive an error message, but it will not prevent you from completing the online registration process. |
Enter appropriate information into the fields. Required fields have a star in front of them. You will not be able to register without first completing these required fields. For courses that offer CE credit, there is a tool on the right side of the page that enables you to look up your license number through the DOI. If you do not enter your correct license number you WILL NOT receive CE credit. |
Click the "Buy" box of the appropriate line items (and quantities, is applicable). |
Click "Add to cart." A summary of your purchase will appear. If member rates apply, here is your last chance to verify that they were given appropriately in the Total column. |
If you are registering more than one person to the same exact course, click "Add other individual." A list of web site users will appear. Simply click "Register" next to the appropriate person's name. Repeat steps until all individuals appear in your cart, and you are ready to check out.
Those users set up in the system as Organizational Admins will be able to Add Users using the blank fields at the bottom of the list. The list is organized by pages on the bottom right corner (blue row); please be sure they are not on later pages before you add them.
If the people your are registering do not appear in the list, and you do not have the option to add Users, then click "Register Manually" to be taken back to the required fields screen of the same course/event.
If you are registering other people to different course/events, click "Continue shopping." It will take you back to the SC Events calendar, where you will have to select appropriate the course/event. Course/events are in reverse order, with later events appearing first. Repeat steps until all individuals appear in your cart, and you are ready to check out. |
If at anytime in registering other individuals, you can click "View Cart" to see who still needs to be added or to check out. |
If you have done the steps flawlessly, you should be at your cart when you are ready to checkout (and if you haven't, don't panic: simply click "View Cart" near the bottom of the page). Click "Checkout." |

CARD VERIFICATION VALUE CODE (CVV)
CVV is a new authentication procedure established by credit card companies to further efforts towards reducing fraud for internet transactions. It consists of requiring a card holder to enter the CVV number in at transaction time to verify that the card is on hand. The CVV code is a security feature for "card not present" transactions (e.g., Internet transactions), and now appears on most (but not all) major credit and debit cards. This new feature is a three- or four-digit code which provides a cryptographic check of the information embossed on the card. Therefore, the CVV code is not part of the card number itself.
The CVV code helps ascertain that the customer placing the order actually possesses the credit/debit card and that the card account is legitimate. Each credit card company has its own name for the CVV code, but it functions the same for all major card types. (VISA refers to the code as CVV2, MasterCard calls it CVC2, and American Express calls it CID.)
The back panel of most Visa/MasterCard cards contain the full 16-digit account number, followed by the CVV/CVC code. Some banks, though, only show the last four digits of the account number followed by the code. To aid in the prevention of fraudulent credit card use, we now require the 3 or 4 digit code on the back of your credit card. When you submit your credit card information your data is protected by Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology certified by a digital certificate.
