Accredited Adviser in Insurance (AAI) program
The Accredited Adviser in Insurance (AAI ®) designation program gives you a competitive edge in the increasingly competitive insurance business. You will be able to increase your commissions, improve your insurance knowledge, learn how to avoid E&O claims, and earn continuing education (CE) credits for your license renewal all at the same time. AAI is more cost-effective and more flexible than other comparable programs. In addition, no CE credits are required to maintain your designation. AAI is the result of a joint effort of the Insurance Institute of America and the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America. Visit us online at www.aicpcu.org.

AAI is a nationally recognized educational program designed specifically for insurance producers and is practical, giving you skills that you can apply immediately. The “Marketing Tips” and “E&O Alerts” highlight important concepts that may help you better serve your customers and your agency.

Segmented texts for easier study.

We know that as an insurance producer, you want to spend the maximum amount of time writing business and prospecting new customers. This is precisely why we designed each of the AAI texts in three easy-to-manage segments. This means you can complete the program without lengthy periods of time away from what you do best: delivering the insurance product.

Topics of study

AAI 81—Foundations of Insurance Production

Insurance & the Legal System • Risk Management & the Producer • Insurance Sales/Account Development • Homeowners & Personal Auto Insurance • Personal Financial Planning • Property Direct & Indirect Damage Insurance • Commercial Inland Marine

AAI 82—Multiple-Lines Insurance Production

Commercial General Liability • Commercial Auto • Garage & Truckers Insurance • Commercial Crime Insurance • Business Owners & Farm Insurance • Workers' Compensation/Employers' Liability Insurance • Specialty Property Insurance • Excess & Umbrella Liability • Ocean Marine/Aviation Insurance • Surety Bonds

AAI 83—Agency Operations and Sales Management

AIAM - Associate in Insurance Account Management
View Course Descriptions

Most of our designations focus on the importance of understanding the policy coverage we are offering our clients, but it is just as important in running a successful independent agency that agents know how to properly manage and service their books of business. Without proper account management, an agency’s retention level will decrease, their profits will decrease, and their E&O exposure will increase. Designed for account managers/executive, customer service representative and office staff, the Associate in Insurance Account Management (AIAM) designation is a comprehensive program that deals in the non-technical aspects of an insurance professional’s responsibilities.

Classes will focus on topics such as understanding customer needs, time management, organizing workflows, negotiating conflict, developing professional relationships, reducing E&O exposures, writing skills, telephone skills, leadership and much, much more. Participants can earn up to 36 hours of continuing education credits – including the mandatory 3 hours of Ethics.

To earn the AIAM designation, candidates must attend six days of instruction, and complete a single open-book exam after all classes are taken. There is no time limit for completing the six days of study and classes may be taken in any order. Classes are currently offered in Columbia, Charleston and Greenville.
See Education Calendar for scheduled classes. View full list of required courses on Education Course info page. Contact our Vice President for details on conducting AIAM classes onsite at your agency.

 Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) Program

Becoming a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) is a pledge to meet the challenge of lifelong professional continuing education. Practical and relevant knowledge gained keeps the CIC more competitive in meeting the changing needs of clients and the industry. The CIC program is first and foremost an educational program. Participants may confirm their knowledge at the end of each institute by taking an exam. When they have passed all five exams, they earn the right to be a Certified Insurance Counselor.

Please note: If you are only seeking state continuing education credits and are not pursuing the CIC designation, you do not have to take the exam!

Participants in the CIC program should be a licensed agent, broker or solicitor OR have a minimum of two years' full-time experience in the insurance industry or as a risk-management practioner OR have served as a full-time insurance faculty member at an accredited college or university. Don't wait another day to learn valuable information that will generate results for your clients.
