While IIABSC has worked over the years to make our annual convention an event to further develop your agency in the aspects of networking and professional development, the purpose of this event was originally to fulfill the requirements of our association bylines for an annual meeting of the membership to elect our  board directors and officers.

Enjoy the view of the harbor as the sun sets from outside the Westin while networking with fellow industry professionals. Entertainment provided by Capt. William Mayhem and crew from St. Augustine, Fla. In the event of rain, reception will be held inside at the Westin Harbor Ballroom. Don’t forget your orange dinner ticket (found in the ticket stack of those registered).

Three company executives will discuss current issues facing the insurance industry and independent agency system. Topics will include increasing deductibles, changes in loss payment basis, coastal issues, agency efficiency, agency/carrier relationships, business climate in South Carolina, multiple distribution platforms, market cycles and more.

Savannah has a rich history of films, television shows and music videos. On the Savannah Cinema tour, you’ll see scenes and photos from movies and TV shows, as you walk by the locations where they were filmed, including Cape Fear, Forrest Gump, Something to Talk About and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. This tour ends at nationally known Leopold’s Ice Cream shop, featured on The Food Network and The View. 
 
Pre-registration and additional registration fee required. Meet IIABSC group leader in the Westin lobby at 8:15, and group will depart by ferry to meet tour guide and transportation on River Street.

Agency ValuationConvention Center, Chatham C

This session will provide agents with the basic information needed in determining agency value. In order for an agency to survive, it must practice good financing techniques to assure a positive and healthy balance sheet. Also discussed will be what an agency needs to be aware of to avoid mistakes that could jeopardize the agency’s future and the protection of the agency’s clients.
 
This breakout session will be repeated from 1:00 – 2:00 pm in the same room. 
 
 
 
Cyberliability & Data BreachConvention Center, Rm. 204

This session will focus on the main exposures faced by insurance agents from theft and breach of electronic records and what they can do to protect their clients personal information. Also discussed will be the laws and regulations regarding the protection of electronic records and the availability of insurance coverage for losses of this type.

Henry G. Turner Memorial Golf, 
Westin’s the Club at Savannah Harbor
Monday 12:30 pm  Lunch,  1:00 pm shotgun start 
 
This year’s Henry G. Turner memorial golf tournament will be held onsite at the Westin’s course.  This impeccable Troon managed course, located at the beautiful Westin Golf Resort and Spa, offers 18 holes of excitement for both the novice and experienced player. Pre-registration is required. Tournament will be played as the Captain's Choice.  Shotgun start at 1:00 PM. Lunch will be provided as well as beverage cart. 
 
Cash prizes will be awarded to top scorers and winners of the long-drive and closest-to-the-pin contests. Prizes will be awarded onsite and announced at the awards banquet Monday night.

The insurance business is an exciting place to be these days. Changes occur almost daily. While we can’t always predict what will happen, it is important to know what could be on the horizon. This session will explore some of the issues that are driving change in the commercial marketplace. Discussion will include premium growth, loss trends, the impact of changes in reserves, catastrophe issues, surplus and tort reform. The focus will be the events that shape our industry so participants are better prepared to deal with the insurance industry of the future.
 
 
 
 
Chairman’s Reception/ Awards Banquet

Network with fellow agents, exhibitors and company reps at the pre-dinner reception in the Grand Foyer, and immediately following inside the ballrooms will be the Awards Banquet, where we will enjoy a delicious dinner and honor the recipients of the Hayne P. Glover Agent of the Year, Young Agent of the Year and Industry Person of the Year awards as well as induct the 2013 Board of Directors and officers. The $1,000 Agent Drawing and $300 Spouse/ Guest Drawing winners will also be announced.
 
After the ceremonies, Comedian/ Hypnotist Erik Kand will entertain you with a hilarious, “clean” and non-embarrassing routine that will keep you in stitches. Don’t forget your red dinner ticket.

The session will start with an update on and national issues including the Trusted Choice® Consumer Agency Portal by IIABA Chairman-Elect Tom Minkler. SCDOI Acting Director Gwen F. McGriff and SC Trusted Choice® Chairman Tom Bates, Jr. will give updates on state issues, and our keynote will finish with a presentation on generational issues.
