History:

Founded in 1970 at Hollywood High School by the Independent Insurance Agents of Los Angeles, the program is celebrating more than 30 years of success. A unique business and education partnership, InVEST was established to train individuals in insurance agency and company operations.

InVEST is a flexible high school and post-secondary education program encompassing more than 235 classes in 30 states. Located in urban, rural and suburban schools across the U.S., it caters to a diverse population of more than 60% minority students.

The high school program is a fully-accredited high school business education course that uses a hands-on approach. The course simulates agency and company operations to prepare students for various business occupations in the insurance industry.

At the community college level, it's an information-intensive introduction to insurance: courses provide students with a working knowledge of the basics needed to begin or pursue a career in the agency or company ranks. Classes also have been implemented in career and technology centers as well as in adult continuing-education programs. In addition to the full-time student, InVEST has proven beneficial to displaced workers, individuals returning to the workplace and people desiring to make career changes.

InVEST is a non-profit 501(c)3 educational trust funded solely through contributions made by insurance companies, foundations and other organizations dedicated to perpetuating talent in the insurance industry. InVEST's success hinges on the commitment and support from groups within the insurance community.
