IIAM LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE & IIAM CONSUMER/GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS INFORMATION COUNCIL
What We Do For You:
This IIAM committee, along with the IIAM lobbyist, are responsible for the association's legislative effort and communication with state and national government offices as well as interested groups on issues of importance to the IIAM members.
This committee is active in staying abreast of all proposed, existing and suspected legislation and produces the only weekly legislative update bulletin in Montana. The committee can also draft legislation that is of importance to the IIAM membership and Montana insurance consumers. The committee remains active in off-legislative years to ensure constant awareness of issues of importance to the Montana insurance industry.
The committee and lobbyist are active on many advisory groups and boards, some of which are listed below. The committee also plans and executes the biannual IIAM "Legislative Road Show" where IIAM members and their legislators meet with the IIAM lobbyist.
Starting in 2007 the IIAM is also getting together with the best and brightest Young Agents from our member agencies / non-member agencies during the legislative session to inform them about the legislative process and what issues will most likely affect them as agents. We also bring in Senators and Representatives and other guest speakers to discuss current issues that could affect them and their agencies.
