IIAV In Action:
The Independent Insurance Agents of Virginia operates an active and effective governmental affairs program. At the state level, IIAV works closely with the legislative and executive branches of government to ensure that government policy and action are consistent with the interest of agents, the insurance industry, and the insurance-buying public.

GrassRoots:
The most important element in IIAV’s governmental affairs program is the Association’s grassroots program. IIAV communicates regularly with its members to keep them informed on legislative and regulatory issues. Members act when necessary and make sure that government officials hear from the people who count the most – agents from their own districts. IIAV believes that agents are their own best advocates, and devotes considerable resources to keep them up-to-date through IIAV’s monthly newsletter and IIAV Legislative Bulletin. IIAV also hosts an annual State Legislative Conference during the legislative session to create an opportunity for agents to visit the Capitol in a group and express their views to their legislators.
VAPAC – Virginia Agents Political Affairs Committee:
IIAV administers VAPAC. Member agencies have built one of the states most effective business – Property/Casualty – PACs which supports pro-business candidates for the House of Representatives, the Senate and selected statewide races.
Part of a National Team:
The Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers Association boasts one of the most effective lobbying teams in Washington, D.C. IIAV's members area a key part of this effective team. IIAV members contribute to InsurPAC, participate in the National Legislative Conference, and form the grassroots link to Virginia’s USSenators and Representatives.
IIAV and IIABA form an effective legislative team that is considered one of the most effective anywhere – not just for the insurance industry. The IIAV and IIABA universe brings together the strength of our members along with over 280,000 independent agents and their employees throughout the United States.
