Welcome to VIAA's Education Center
VIAA understands that Education is important. That is why we are trying to offer more classes, different topics and new designation programs. VIAA offers a wide range of insurance education such as Property & Casualty Pre-Licensing School, Flood & Ethics, ACSR/AAI/CRIS/CIC/CISR, Virtual University Online classes, and self-study. Currently we offer courses in a classroom setting, Vermont Interactive Sites, In-House, Online (Virtual University) and Webinars. VIAA's Education Director, Ashley Jacques and Education Chair, Terri O'Hear is always trying to come up with new topics and different locations, but would love to hear from the VIAA members. VIAA is always looking for more involvement with the Education Committee and if you are interested on becoming part of the Education Committee or would like to share some ideas on topics, locations, instructors, etc., please contact Ashley Jacques at ajacques@viaa.org.

CE Requirement Deadline
(April 1, 2011 - March 31, 2013)
Vermont law requires insurance agents or brokers to meet the continuing education (CE) requirement each 24-month licensing period. Upon a producer's license renewal and every renewal thereafter, a producer must complete 24 hours of approved continuing education courses during the preceding two years. Of the 24 hours requirement, no more than six credits may come from credit categorized as Agency Management.
PLEASE NOTE: Per Tom Van Cooper, Director of Insurance Regulation, Memo dated 12/12/2007. The following amendments have been made to regulation 2002-02.
-
All producers will now be required to take three hours of ethics education every two years.
-
All property and casualty producers will now be required to take a one-time, three-hour flood insurance course.
-
The CE Review Period had been changed to coincide with the license term, and has been moved from October 1st of even years to March 31st of odd years. A producer may still request a six-month extension (from March 31st) for completion of CE requirements.
