YAC Gives Back: A Benefit for InVEST Scholarships
Young Agents have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of future professionals. While the news is littered with statistics on unemployment rates, the insurance industry is full of opportunity. With 60% of the insurance professionals over the age of 45 and seeking retirement in the next 15 years, it’s a great time to start a career in insurance. How can Young Agents help? Support InVEST, the education foundation that teaches high school and community college students about careers in insurance and the importance of insurance literacy. InVEST provides teachers with software, lesson plans and course books while agents and company partners provide guest appearances in classrooms, job shadow days and internships.

For the first time the National Young Agents Committee (YAC) will be hosting YAC Gives Back: A Benefit for InVEST Scholarships. This event will be held in conjunction with the Big “I” Legislative Conference & Convention in Washington, DC. Mark your calendars for March 4 from 8:30 – 11:30 pm and be a part of this exciting fundraiser. Enjoy casino games, music, live and silent auctions, raffle prizes, and of course, the company of your insurance industry peers. All proceeds from this event will go towards InVEST scholarships – supporting InVEST is a win-win!

You can be a distinctive part of this event and give back to InVEST! Your state YAC can co-sponsor YAC Gives Back: A Benefit for InVEST Scholarships for $1,000. You will see your committee name, “Young Brokers and Agents Committee of _________” on the big screen, souvenir cup, signage, LC&C program guide, InVEST silent auction catalog, and hyperlink on
 www.investprogram.org and www.independentagent.com/events.

About the National Young Agents Committee

Mission

The Big "I" National Young Agents Committee (YAC) encourages young agents – those under 40 years of age or with less than 5 years experience in the industry – to become aware of and get involved in the activities and programs of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (the Big "I").

Goals
  • Launch the next generation of independent agency system leaders
  • Build involvement in and activism for the legislative issues vital to the future of the insurance industry
  • Encourage the revitalization of state young agents programs and the strengthening of existing ones
  • Develop awareness of and participation in the state and national activities of the Big "I"

Committee Charge
To ensure the perpetuation of the independent agency system, the Big "I" National YAC will provide young agents with leadership training and networking opportunities giving them the skills they need to improve and enhance their agencies and their state young agents programs. Through such educational opportunities and association involvement, the National YAC will help to develop the next generation of association and industry leaders.
