SECURITY RESOURCE FOR INDEPENDENT AGENTS

At ACT, we are increasingly aware that all technology decisions are so much more specific to an individual agency’s goals and needs than ever before. Despite the differences among agencies, there are some very real things you can do to prepare for and navigate the journey of evaluating technology solutions for your agency. We've compiled a number of ideas and insights from ACT members and aligned them into 7 easy to follow steps for considering new agency technology.
Today, it's critical for every agency to be fully prepared for remote work – whether this entails staff being full-time remote or hybrid, working some days at home and some at the office. But how do you get started? What policies need to be created? What equipment or services are necessary to ensure a secure and productive work environment for your team at home, in the office, or on the road? This 'Remote Work Security Policy' from the ACT Security Issues work group provides a template outlining areas to cover, to help ensure success for your employees and your agency.
One key component of any effective compliance program is an agency website privacy policy. ACT and the Big ‘I’ General Counsel have worked together to create a vetted ‘website privacy policy’ template which Big ‘I’ members can download and use on their websites. Note: You must be a Big 'I' member to access this resource.
Resources and guidance for before, during and after a disaster.
Handling sensitive information is one of the most critical responsibilities faced by the modern insurance agency. Independent insurance agents and brokers must properly collect and protect sensitive client information every day. The Agents Council for Technology (ACT) in cooperation with our carrier, vendor, and agent/broker members and has created this Agency Cyber Guide for Big “I' independent agents and brokers. This Guide highlights the tools which are available for insurance agents to understand requirements of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and other cyber laws.
